The etiology of TGA remains unclear, despite decades of studies. The incidence of TGA was high in the Eastern Finnish population. Discussion: The most common precipitating factors for TGA were physical effort, emotional stress, and water contact/temperature change. Therefore, the TGA incidence was higher than previously reported in European countries. The crude incidence of a first TGA in Eastern Finland was 18.6/100,000 inhabitants, and when standardized to the European population in 2010, it was 14.3/100,000 inhabitants. TGA occurred most often in December ( n = 9, 16.0%), March ( n = 8, 14.3%), or October ( n = 8, 14.3%), and least often in November and May ( n = 2, 3.6% in both months). The most common comorbidities were hypercholesterolemia ( n = 22, 39.3%), hypertensive disease ( n = 21, 37.5%), hypothyroidism ( n = 11, 19.6%), coronary artery disease ( n = 8, 14.3%), and migraine ( n = 7, 12.5%). The most common event preceding TGA was physical effort ( n = 28, 50%), followed by emotional stress ( n = 11, 19.6%) and water contact or a temperature change ( n = 11, 19.6%). Results: In 2017, 56 patients were treated for TGA at KUH. The TGA incidence rates were calculated as the number of patients with TGA divided by the number of individuals at risk in different age groups. Risk factors and demographic data were collected from medical records. The hospital catchment area included 246,653 individuals. Materials and Methods: The study included all patients with suspected TGA that were referred to Kuopio University Hospital (KUH) in 2017. In this study, we report the incidence and risk factors associated with TGA in Finland. There are few up-to-date reports on the TGA incidence in Northern Europe. ![]() The etiology of TGA remains unclear, although in recent decades, many risk factors and preceding events have been identified. ![]() Introduction: Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a spontaneously resolving, anterograde amnesia that lasts mostly <24 h and often occurs with retrograde amnesia. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Got a new one.mechanics were ready to put it on.and oops.where's the gear? The what? The gear-flywheel? So yep.we ordered the flywheel from SMP same product number as listed below. She passed last yr and dad and I are too old and have health issues.so we have great mechanics that my friend who is part of the Chicago Thunderbird Club suggested and they've been going through the steps to get her to run again.so far so starter. I have the almost the same as Muffinman- Dad inherited his pop's 1964 T and he's 81 and I'm an oldie too.and we are going to sell car to a good home.Dad has kept car in eat condition inside and out.one little tiny problem.hasn't driven it in years.about 13.that's how long we were caring for my mom- 13 years of dementia-at home. Is there somewhere, that you guys know of, that I can buy the whole thing as a assembly or where I can buy the bendix parts? Most part stores seem to have the starter in a wearhouse, just not the bendix. I assume the starter is probably bad and I need to replace it. I looked around some part stores locally and none of them carry the bendix. My question is if the bendix can break and lock itself in the engaged position and never disengage from the flywheel? If thats the case, then it would cause the flywheel to never pick up enough speed to be able to operate properly. ![]() So it's basically opposite of the way starters are now. But it seems that this starter retracts toward the end of the shaft when the starter dis-engages from the flywheel. As you know, Im sure, most starters have the bendix inside the housing and it pops out when starting a car. I've never seen the bendix on this starter before. I replaced the solenoid, but that did not fix the problem. We tried jumping it but it was still the same, still clicking. I just heard clicking from the solenoid/contactor or perhaps the starter itself. We had it running eariler in the day, but after working on it some we tryed to start it again but had no luck. However with a charged battery we could get it to start a number of times until last week. Like the starter didnt have enough torque to turn the fly wheel. We had the car running, however it always started slowly. It will be a few years before I can start fixing it up, but I know its condition will worsen as I do not really have a good place of storing it until then. My wife inherited a '64 Thunderbird from her grandfather a few years ago and we've made the decsion to sell it as I do not really have the time or the money to finish fixing it, I wish I did though. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tuntke, with set decoration by Emile Kuri and Hal Gausman. ![]() The sets are by Carroll Clark and William H. Irwin Kostal did the arranging and conducting and has made the score varied and meaningful. There are about a dozen of them, and they are all good. Arthur Malet contributes ably, and Jane Darwell lends wordless radiance to a lovely musical number. Reginald Owen is thunderous as a somewhat loony retired admiral. Arthur Treacher has an amusing bit as a constable. Elsa Lanchester is amusing as a defeated governess. Ed Wynn is in for one fine scene, where everyone floats on the ceiling. Hermione Baddeley and Reta Shaw are strong as the family’s servants. Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber are the children, and they are splendid, precocious but utterly beguiling. The construction of Mary Poppins uses songs for exposition and action, never simply diversion, and both Tomlinson and Miss Johns come in strongly as singing actors. The scene, for instance, in which Mary Poppins teaches her children how much fun it is to clean up their room, in which objects whisk magically to their appointed places. It is done for total value, and the sequences are unfailingly good, not just trickery. There is repeated use of “flying,” done so wonderfully that the mechanics never shows. There is the combination of live and animated figures, done in such sequences as Van Dyke dances with four penguins. As a result the film is loaded with unusual cinematic skills. The impressive thing about the conception of Mary Poppins is that Disney, Stevenson, Walsh and DaGradi apparently decided what would be right, not feasible, and then set the many departments to work creating without reference to the impossible. And accomplished with so much skill and novelty and joyous good spirits that it seems as bright as tomorrow. Trim, neat and efficient, she makes work into fun, and fun into hilarity. She descends to earth, like some Edwardian Superman, to take charge of the family. Mary Poppins, clearly a figure of supernatural power, is first seen sailing serenely over London sitting primly on a cloud. The family is a disorganized one with father scrabbling for money, mother agitating for women’s votes and the children occupied in establishing their independence through the demoralization of a succession of governesses. The title character, played by Julie Andrews, is a governess in an English family, circa 1910. There is a child’s magic about Mary Poppins, but also a tart realism that rescues it at every turn from cuteness. Someone once said that Peter Pan was not only about a little boy who wouldn’t grow up, but sounded as if it were written by a little boy who wouldn’t grow up.
